Advertising and marketing jobs utilize research to coordinate promotional activities. Combining advertising with sales or purchase incentives is normal. Advertising and marketing jobs are expected to increase by 12 percent through 2006 to 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This rate of growth is close to the average for all occupations and will be due to several factors. Competition amongst products and services offered by companies domestically and globally will increase the need for marketing jobs. In specific industries, employment is expected to grow faster than average.
