Customer service jobs can be found in various types of stores that have points of contact with their customers. These individuals are responsible for taking care of the customers to a higher regard than other associates. Customer service jobs require minimal education. A high school diploma or GED equivalent would be sufficient although having an associates or bachelor’s degree would attract more employers’ attention. Experience with using computers, great customer service skills, and a background in communications would be very helpful in ensuring a customer service representative as a successful career track. Depending on the establishment, the individual may be required to remain on their feet for long shifts of work so the employer should be asked questions about the details of the job.

Customer service jobs are expected to grow at a rate higher than the national average for all occupations according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Between the years of 2006 and 2016 customer service employment is expected to increase exponentially by 25 percent. A strengthening economy and expansion in industries that require additional customer service support will provide openings and give excellent opportunities for persons seeking customer service related careers.  Employers will look to fill these vacancies quickly because it is essential point of reference for consumers and continuing a sales relationship along with company visibility, and brand loyalty.
