Environmental Scientist Assistant
The NCBA/SEE Program seeks applicants for temporary positions in Richmond, VA, the Tidewater, VA area and Boston, MA with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Job Responsibilities

 

Positions will assist with telephone surveys and on-site assessments to ensure compliance with various regulations including the Clean Air Act (CAA) and the Resource Conversation and Recovery Act (RCRA) (Note: These positions are temporary with a short term enrollment period of November 2009 - February 2010 or whenever the project is completed. Additional site assessments possible for the summer/fall of 2010 and 2011.)

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications for these positions include: all applicants must be 55 years of age or older due to the guidelines of the employment program and in accordance with Public Law 98-313. Applicants must have an engineering or science background (biology, chemistry, environmental sciences) and have a minimum of 5 years experience related to environmental health, safety or environmental compliance education. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as experience using personal computers.

Job Benefits

$12.41 per hour with benefits that include health insurance accrued annual leave, sick leave and paid holidays.

The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program, funded by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), offers meaningful work for persons who are currently 55 years of age or older. The program is not intended to, and does not compete with the Civil Service hiring or compensation systems (these are not Federal positions).
